All About the Water-Purifying Raincoat

Raincoats are made for the purpose of keeping us dry and warm during rainy days. However, a new technology in raincoats is being developed to make the users dry during rainy days and also quenches their thirst. This new technology is called the Raincatch and uses the technology of making rainwater potable for drinking.

 

Overview

The “Raincatch” is a newly invented rain coat with a hood that keeps us dry during a downpour as well as purifies rainwater for drinking. This raincoat was designed by Hyeona Yang and Joshua Noble from an institute called Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design. The raincoat possess a state of the art system where it uses charcoal and chemical filters that can help make rainwater potable for drinking. The coat collects rain water from the back and it goes to storage areas hidden inside the coat. These areas are around the shoulders and hips for proper weight distribution. The tubes are not hidden since the designers opt for the tubes to be flaunted to give the raincoat an elegant design.

 

Advantages

The coat offers a new innovation in saving fresh water. Nowadays, fresh water is now becoming scarce and this raincoat gives a new hope in conserving this needed resources for human lives. In addition, this coat can have so many applications especially to those who have jobs in places where freshwater is scarce. They would only need to wear the coat while it is raining and they can store fresh water for their consumption. It can also be used for survivability as well as conserve fresh water supplies.

The Raincatch raincoat is a very ideal invention for this millenia since the world is now facing a new problem regarding scarcity of fresh water supply. The coat gives light in the fight in the conservation of fresh water world wide.
